There’s no getting away from the fact that the global pandemic caused by Covid-19 has changed almost every aspect of life. Even as we hopefully put the worst of it behind us, the need for social distancing and other precautions means that things are not really returning to normal any time soon. However, life does go on, and at some point, you will likely have to travel in a Covid-19 effected world, so what do you do?
Of course, when travelling the most important thing is to follow the guidance and rules set out by government and travel companies, but as things have changed drastically, what you take with you matters too. Here are 5 essentials that you should have with you when travelling during the pandemic.
1. Masks
In many cases you will be required to wear a mask to be allowed on a plane, train or other transport, and that means one mask for every person travelling, plus a few spares just in case. Masks also make sense as they protect both you and everyone around you, and they should be worn throughout your travelling time.
2. Gloves
Having a mask makes sense, it’s often required just to be able to travel anyway, but a pair of gloves are also a great option for your travel bag. One of the major reasons that the pandemic has spread as it has is the ease in which it can be transmitted on surfaces as we pick it up with our hands through touch. Washing hands regularly can have an effect on that kind of transmission but wearing gloves in public spaces keeps your hands protected, and that has to be a good thing.
3. Personal Hygiene Essentials
We all understand that combating not just Covid-19 but other infections means paying close attention to personal hygiene. During a pandemic, being able to clean hands after touching any public surface is essential, and so having personal hygiene essentials in your travel pack make sense. The exact content will depend on your preferences, but hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and isopropyl wipes can be used to maintain hand hygiene, clean your phone and other personal items as required during the journey.
4. Thermometer
While the pandemic is still ongoing, keeping tabs on your own health can make a real difference. Symptoms do include a persistent cough or shortness of breath, but by far the easiest way of early diagnosis is higher temperature. Packing your own thermometer means you can check yourself and those travelling with you and see potential problems early.
5. Battery Bank or Portable Charger
Having additional power for your tech devices makes sense at any time, but it is particularly important now. With social distancing and other limitations, most tickets and transactions are electronic. The last thing you need is a dead battery when you need your phone to display your ticket. Having that additional power saves you hassle, but also avoids journey-ruining anxiety as you watch your device consumer its battery. Travel with confidence and without worry.
In addition, you will want your phone or tablet, not just for entertainment but as mentioned, possible electronic ticketing and more, along with any of your usual travel essentials. Travelling in times of Covid-19 can be a little unnerving, but if you take precautions, follow advice and have the essentials to hand, you can do so in safety.
