How to know it’s time to leave a job?

time to leave a job

Time to leave a job: Professional experiences is like love stories. They have a cycle: at first, you commit to 300% to start the relationship, you live the honeymoon, then it becomes routine, and there comes a day that you fall out of love… At this moment, it is time to consider whether this story still has a future for you and you are determined to fight for her or if you want to abandon her.

In work relationships such as couples, when we feel that the relationship hurts, we tend to deceive ourselves. Because we are afraid to leave or have to change. The human being is very strong in self-delusion. We drown our sensations and intuitions with a super powerful message: “You can’t complain” “It is ideal to think that a job can make you passionate” “Go on a little longer, you’ll see how the situation will improve”. We don’t even realize that we are deluding ourselves!

How to know it’s time to leave a job?

We help you with some very specific tips to become aware of your reality and know if you need to change your professional life or not.

Throughout the day, give yourself 1 minute to listen to your body and ask yourself:

How do I feel? Where do I feel tensions in my body? How do I feel these tensions? How long have I felt them? At what time of the day do they usually arrive?

If you usually suffer from repetitive migraines, stomachaches, back pain, insomnia… these are messages that your body transmits to you. The body somatizes all the sufferings that we repress.

Ask yourself: what does my body want to point out to me?

Watch how you go to work:

Is it hard for you to wake up? Are you late? What feelings do you go to work with? What thoughts? We recommend you write down these sensations in a notebook day after day, to see how you evolve.

Observe yourself at work:

Can’t spend 30 minutes focused on a single task? Are you surprised to leave a task in between to go to the online store of your favorite clothing brand, look at the weather this weekend, check Facebook to see what happens …? Do you get lost very easily? Do you email the wrong person for the third time … you forgot an important meeting … you lose documents …? Are you uncomfortable with your teammates, aggressive, defensive?

Watch how you come back from work:

When you return home, do you need to have a drink, watch TV and not tell your partner anything about your day?

Do others tell you that you are in a negative loop, repeating how much you hate your boss or how bored you are or how much they exploit you …? Do you rediscover your energy and motivation when you leave work when you go to the gym, or play with your children, or meet your friends?

Pay attention to how you talk about your work:

At a party, when they ask you what you do, would you rather skip the topic? Don’t you like talking about your work? When you talk about your work, doesn’t your face light up? Don’t your eyes shine? Don’t you get a smile?

What to do in these cases?
